Zunited is a website dedicated exclusively to news about Microsoft, mainly Windows 8, Xbox, Windows Phone, and Other Services.
History of Zunited
Zunited.net was founded January 12th 2008 by
Jared Marino with Anna Yap, Michael Collado, and Jon Young. This new website
was based around the Microsoft Zune device. Zunited started primarily as a
forum website, breaking off of the, then larger, Zunescene.com.
With no news aspect and only a spattering of forum members
Zunited began to build its name and reputation in the Zune Social, or online
community. We had one mission, to “Unite the Zune Social”.
As forum popularity increased dramatically, the
administration started the news section and the “Zunited Zune Podcast” hosted
by Jared, Anna, and Michael; with other various co-hosts throughout the years.
The height of Zunited’s popularity was with the Microsoft
Zune HD Launch. However, once the hype died down the news ran dry. Seeing the
change in the field Zunited re-branded to cover all Microsoft News, entering
into a new playing field of competition.
In October 2010, Jared was offered a position to work for
Microsoft Corporation. Due to this change he had to step down as Podcast Host,
Forum Administrator, and News Writer. This eventually led to the decision to
remove the forum and focus efforts on Zunited’s News page.
The death of Zune hit Zunited hard but the foundation of
active members and contributors kept us alive.
Today, Zunited is managed by Jared, with the help of Anna
and the Editors.
