Katy Perry’s new album “Teenage Dream” was launched today to the eager listeners! I have been listening to it all morning and must say that I absolutely LOVE it. Katy Perry is back.
7 reasons. 7 weeks. That’s basically the idea for a new mini-column that we’re starting here at Zunited, called 7for7, where we will mention seven great reasons to wait until later this Fall for Windows Phone 7′s debut rather than going with an iPhone, Android, or Blackberry device. You might remember that we asked you why you should get WP7 on Twitter and we will be taking those into consideration when generating our detailed reasons that might just hold you over until the device(s) actually come(s) out!
So what are the seven reasons? Well, that’s part of the fun! Every Tuesday we’ll reveal and review a new reason to wait until mid-October. So join us and be part of the debate: Reply in our comments sections every week, communicate over Twitter, or discuss with like-minded (or even opposite-minded) people in our Forum! And hopefully we can win those over who don’t think Windows Phone 7 is worth the wait.
We hope to begin tomorrow but all things considered we might have to start Tuesday, August 31st.
It is time yet again for another Song Spotlight here at Zunited and this week I have been given the honor, nay the privilege, to present to you a song I believe is worthy of the title. Now, I may get some flak about this, but this week’s song choice is one of my favorite artists: Justin Bieber! This week, it’s—
Okay, I can’t bear lying longer than that. This week I’ve chosen a song from one of my favorite shows, Chuck. Now, I didn’t pick this show just to annoy Jon or to fulfill my duty of having everyone in the world know about it, honestly. Throughout the day I find that I start singing the chorus of this song over and over and over again.
The song I’ve chosen is “Skinny Love” by Bon Iver, shown in the following scene from the show, the episode titled “Chuck vs the Break-Up”
1:50 the scene starts, 3:00 the song starts, 4:20 the song picks up.
Listen to the song in its entirety here:
This isn’t the only song by Bon Iver Chuck has used, in a later episode they also use “Creature Fear” from the same album For Emma, Forever Ago. The show does, in fact, use many Indie-sounding rock bands that are quite good and have definitely opened my mind to new music–everything from Band of Horses, The Eels, Plants and Animals, The Temper Trap, and even revisiting Imogen Heap–even if it seems like the show is quite heavy with emotion, that’s when the good music selection rears its head, it truly is much more playful than the clip.
But for now, I’ll continue to hum and indulge in the campy and yet soulful lyrics by Bon Iver, raising tone and volume just like the lead.
Come on skinny love just last the yearIt’s better late than never. Because of lack of internet and prior commitments I have been unable to bring this song to you all. This week I wanted to be more of an artist spotlight over a couple of tracks, that defined early rock-and-roll. This artist of course was one who died way before his time, and heavily influenced the song, “American Pie” by Don McLean. This man of course is Buddy Holly.

Like Sakai, I am an old soul with newer roots in some respects. And after watching the movie “The Buddy Holly Story” with Gary Busey late last week. My love for Buddy’s music was re-born. It’s not like I had never heard him but, I blame my distance to 32gb of Zune; I can’t have everything I would want like on my 80gb- which was still pushing it but oh, well- now I stream everything via Zune Pass and the day still goes on, the earth still rotates correctly.
Known for his thick glasses, and his swinging hips. He was a revolution before he knew how big he would be for the future of music and the advancement of the musical culture.
The songs I chose for this week are
Oh, Boy!
And….
That’ll be the Day
enjoy.

From Wikipedia:
“Fish Heads” is a novelty song by comedy rock duo Barnes and Barnes, featured on their 1980 album Voobaha. It has often been played on the Dr. Demento show, and is the second most honored song in Demento show history. On a personal note, besides this being a big hit on the radio in the early 80s, my mom had the picture disc album, and it looked/was shaped like a giant fish head.
You just don’t get comedy music videos like that anymore. Now you just get Lady Gaga’s vagina. (I guess that’s still kind of funny, in it’s own way.)
The music video: (the song doesn’t actually start until 2:20 in, if you want to skip ahead.)

This week, i’ll be giving out one of my favorite songs.
I myself am an old soul. I enjoy listening to simple beats, big bands, and simple lyrics.
The song this week, “We saw the Sea”, is from the 1936 movie, “Follow the Fleet”. The movie starts off of with a wonderful comedic piece about being in the navy. The song is by Fred Astaire
The song is very catchy and holds an energetic beat throughout the song. I’ll find myself whistling to it throughout the day.
Hope you guys will enjoy the song as much as i do!
So, in an effort to have something regular going on, I’m going to try something new. Every week, I will be featuring/posting/sharing cool songs that I come across. It will be on the front page, and posted on facebook as well. If you have any songs you’d like me to spotlight, send me a shout through PM, or email, or facebook [or anything else for that matter
]
So, let’s start off with your first week!
Week OneLately, i’ve been really loving this song called To the Rescue by a Evan Taylor Jones and The Martian Flood Band. They are based in Orlando, Florida – So if any of you guys live nearby and like their song, you should support them! If any of you guys go way back, you may know the guy playing saxophone, Mike Cunningham [or An Inno] on the forums. Have a listen!
If you like what you heard, you can listen and find out more about them at
I hope you guys [but more likely gals
] like it ^_^ I love the combo of the sax with the smooth silky voice of Evan. He has a great voice, and the song is written in such a way that makes girls want to fall in love. [haha, I know, very girly. xD] It’s ok though, men can like it too
