Rumor: Final Fantasy, Mirror’s Edge & Battleship Hitting Windows Phone

If you’re a particular gamer with JRPG tendencies, then you’ll likely appreciate the next bit of news. According to bestwp7games.com, Zebrasqual, an Xbox 360 gamer, started snooping around for signs of new games through achievements lists in Xbox360Achievements. He discovered a few unusual titles popping up, including Square Enix fabled Final Fantasy, among others.

Contract Killer, Super Monkey Ball 2, Mirror’s Edge, Battleship and Fling have been identified as other potential games coming to Windows Phone gamers everywhere.

While it’s nothing concrete, and bestwp7games.com is taking these findings with a grain of salt, we hope that the inclusion of such games start to invade our devices soon, if only to break up the monotony of puzzler games that recently have hit the marketplace.

Rumor: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 reveal coming May 2nd.

Halo and Call of Duty may be heading for the biggest first person shooter showdown this holiday season, as it will be the first time the two series release new installments within the same month.

Are you looking for more details on this year’s Call of Duty game? Well, it will be made by Treyarch and has been speculated to be a sequel to 2010′s Black Ops. I’m not exactly reaching when I say it will probably release around the second week of November.

It turns out that we won’t have to wait much longer for details on the next Call of Duty game. This poster is supposedly making the rounds at retailers. The poster seems to be about a Call of Duty game by Treyarch. It’s easy to assume it will be Black Ops 2 since Activision already has a website for Black Ops 2 waiting.

Amazon listed Black Ops 2 a few months ago. You can see where this is all going.

On May 2nd, we should get more details on the next installment in the Call of Duty series. Will it release on election day like Halo 4? Will any self respecting gamer survive a seven day period where a brand new Halo and Call of Duty release? Let us know if you’re looking forward to the next COD game in the comments!

Rumor: Next Xbox to have 16-core CPU?

There are a lot of rumors about the next generation Xbox console. Some say it will ship with an ARM processor, others say it won’t play used games. Some of these will end up being true while others will go down in gaming infamy as being silly speculation.

One of the latest rumors is that the next generation Xbox will boast an impressive 16-core CPU. Some say this will be needed because the next generation version of Kinect will eat up those cores to perform tasks like finger tracking. It seems plausible that a processor with a lot of cores would help Kinect but this rumor is very far fetched.

16-core CPU’s are a rarity even in the PC community. AMD released the first 16-core CPU for businesses late last year. While I expect Microsoft to make the next generation Xbox more powerful than the Xbox 360 currently is, I think this is overkill.

If you can’t help but roll your eyes

Future Nokia Phone Concept Leaked; Looks Like Half a Batwing

If the Nokia Lumia 900 is the pinnacle of Windows Phone devices, then this could be is antithesis. Or at least a true departure from what we are accustomed. Early today, mynokiablog.com, via AndroSym, released what is reported as leaked images suggesting a rather peculiar hardware design we aren’t used to from Nokia.

The image showcases a curved device, concave if you will, and a huge camera lens protruding from the back, presumably part of the Nokia PureView camera system that was just announced at WMC this year. The device, as in the pictures above, also has a good selection of colors from the standard black, if you like neon-like colors that is.

Specs wise, the device is set to have some interesting innards, more akin to Apollo devices. With a dual-core processor with Adreno 320 GPU, 41MP camera able to shoot 1080p video, and curved glass with HD resolution, this is bound to be a cool new toy to play with. Of course, this could all be a giant hoax as well or just internal projects to see what they can do, but even if this never to be seen by the consumer eye, it’s nice to see Nokia trying different things for the sake of creating an interesting device that defies convention.

Rumor: Samsung Releasing Three New Windows Phone for 2012

As it stands now, Nokia is stealing all the headlines as the Lumia 900 is set to release just a couple of days from now. That doesn’t mean that other OEMs are sitting idle on their Windows Phone offerings. One such company is Samsung, and if rumors are to be believed they might have three new devices floating around shelves by the end of the year.

According to UnwiredView.com Samsung is developing three handsets, one being the fabled Mandel, and two others probably running Apollo. The Mandel devices is important because it is said to have an LTE antenna, which could potentially come around later this summer before the big news of Windows Phone 8 stats to roll out of Microsoft.

With Nokia and HTC as of now placing some good hardware in the hands of customers and taking the brunt of the Windows Phone pie, how well Samsung starts to differentiate itself from these two companies could be the key at their success. Hopefully, it wont be long before we see one of these phones hit the market.

Rumor: Next Xbox to be Named Xbox Infinity?

Let me preface this by saying that this is just me speculating based on certain things I have noticed, and code names that have been floating around. Most of this was put together based on this article.

First off, let’s discuss the first Xbox codename everyone is thinking about, Xbox 720. What is a 720? If you think about it, it’s 360 twice – two circles. Put both of those circles together, you get a Infinity symbol – but wait, there is more! The second codename given to the next Xbox was Xbox Loop and a loop can be made into an infinity symbol!

You’re probably thinking that I’m somewhat insane because there have been other codename’s like “Durango” and “Next Box” but the latest news that came today quickly alerted me. The Feed just posted an article about Microsoft registering the domain name “Halo:Infinity.” Now, why would Microsoft register that domain name when the game clearly will be called Halo 4? I also realize that Infinity is a popular Halo: Combat Evolved PC map, but why register a domain for just the map name? This is especially strange considering, Halo 4 will not use any previous game maps.

We will have to wait to see the official word from Microsoft next year. Microsoft recently announced that they would not announce a new Xbox this year, so it is more likely that they will focus on the Windows 8 and Xbox integration this year at E3.

(Update) It seems as though the multiplayer component on Halo 4 will have an “Infinity” mode. In the beginning of the article I did say I was speculating so remember this could or could not come to fruition. Only time will tell what Microsoft has in store for us. Hopefully it’s something better than “Durango”.

What do you think the next Xbox will be called?

New Windows Phone Leaked Nokia Lumia 719

Images have just been leaked on the new Nokia Lumia 719. The 719 passed Bluetooth certification last month and will be joining other Lumia phones like the 610, 710, 800, and 900. Nokia has announced in the past that the quality of the phone depends on the number. The lowest number being the most affordable and the higher number being the high end phones. Like the 710 the Lumia 719 will have the exact same screen size of 3.7″ and the same 5mp camera. Unlike the the 710 the 719 will support both CDMA2000 and GSM networks. The 719 will be targeting both Asian and American markets.

Are you happy with the amount of phones Nokia has produced, or should it spend more time differentiating its phones? Let us know in the comments section below don’t forget to follow and like us on Facebook and Twitter.

Bing to Help Startups?

Neowin has published an article stating that Rahul Sood, a Microsoft employee, has made the change from the Xbox division over to the Bing division. What is interesting is Sood’s motives for this drastic change. According to Neowin, Sood publicly stated on LinkedIn that the reasoning behind this change is because an “opportunity had presented itself to him”. He was going to be in charge of a new program on the Bing team for entrepreneurs and startups. Sood has now changed his LinkedIn privacy settings, making this difficult to confirm.

Rahul Sood started working at Microsoft in its Xbox division in December 2010. He formally worked at the company he founded, VoodooPC – a company that made gaming PCs. VoodooPC was acquired by HP in 2006, and in 2010 Sood jumped ship for a job at Microsoft’s Xbox division. Having founded his own company, Sood should have insight at how startups work and how to assist them making this rumored Bing service quite plausible.

What do you guys think of this new service? How do you think it will work? Leave a comment below and remember to follow us and like us on Facebook and Twitter.
